By "Hispanics" I of course mean Latin Americans who are classified by the US census bureau as an ethnic group consisting of people of many races. But there is no such thing as an ethnic group comprising people from more than one race! Worst yet, American mass media, politicians and a lot of the average citizens think "Hispanics" or "Latinos" are a race! Sometimes smaller "Hispanic" groups like Mexicans, Cubans or Puertoricans are talked of as if they are races or ethnic groups. This is insane and has to stop! Latin American countries and the "Latino" diaspora in the USA are multiracial, just like the "non-Hispanic" population of the US. It's really like pretending all American ciitizens are an ethnic group, because they speak English, because speaking Spanish is all an Amerindian from Guatemala and a mulatto from Cuba have in common. People in these countries don't pretend they are all the same ethnicity or race, so why do Americans believe that? This is also important because "Latinos" also benefit from affirmative action in the US, which is even more insane! Please give your opinion and I will also make a poll.
