We just moved to Budapest XIII district (norternmost of inner Pest), it is like 95% ethnic Hungarian with rest Gypsies and foreign Students. Before that we lived in VI Distict (centre of Pest) and it was lot more diverse, with huge expat and Jewish population. We prefer more homogenous and blue collar right leaning area, and that's why we chosed it.

Yes! The prices went trough the roof. Especially V, VI and VII distict, but they are not worth it (loud, liberal hellhole, multi-culti, crazy traffic, drunken tourists under your window). District XIII is cheaper and really fine, just normal Hungarian neighbourhood with normal working people and that is all what I asked for. Stears wanted to try Buda which is nicer, classier and more conservative but as of now out of our price range and I didn't want it from beginning because I did not escaped my hilly city to move to another hilly area(Buda is hilly part of city), rather enjoying the flat Pest

We wouldn't have money even for 2 room flat in District XIII if my parents did not help.

Thanks for the detailed answer. I asked because I think where to invest money properly. I have been working in IT for 12 years, and it seems to me that this is already enough. I want to become a rentier like all normal people, and not to finish like an old schizophrenic in an embrace with a PC).
