Default As you're ageing, are you become lighter or darker in pigmentation?

My skin pigmentation has been like a roller coaster - Very light as a kid, moderately olive as a teen (perhaps hormones?) and lighter again as I'm in my mid 20s.

How did your skin colour vary through your years?

Lighter as a kid. As you get old, you generally get darker i believe.

People are definitely lighter as children. I believe they darken throughout their youth and then remain at a stable pigmentation through most of their adulthood till they get old, at which point they start getting lighter again.

depends how much sun exposure you get. the more (and more often) you tan during your youth you accumulate sun damage which increases the ammount of melanin produced. also hormones, and ethnicity

Lighter. My hair was darker as a kid, which I think is very rare. I also used to look pseudo-asian. As for skin-color, I stopped tanning at all some years ago.

I'm generally type I of the Fitzpatrick scale in terms of my normal pigmentation.
Always tanned poorly and the darkest I get if exposed to a lot of sun influence is a colour somewhere in the middle between type I and type II:

I had golden blond hair until the age of 6, brown-haired (neither dark, nor light - my colour is what they call medium ash brown) since then. If I spend several days at high altitude or a lot of time out in summer my hair acquires a quite rufous tone.
My eyes were greener but became of intermediate grey/green colour during puberty.
After not shaving for a while:

My skin colour has remained the same. My hair has changed from a true blond in my childhood and twenties to a darker ash blond.
Nine out of ten concerns are completely unfounded.

I Think how much sun you expose yourself when you are a kid also can influence your skin tone

Between 14 and 16 yo i weared two plastic bracelets all year long, so also two summers straight, and now i ak 23 and i can still see a slight difference in pigmentiation around my wrists

If you look closely you should be able to see it especially on the inside of the wrists the line is very visible
