Greece ready to extend western territorial waters, says former minister

Greece is ready to extend its territorial waters in its western flank from 6 to 12 nautical miles, former foreign minister Nikos Kotzias announced on Saturday, during a ceremony to hand over his portfolio to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

The move concerns the sea region extending from the Diapontia Islands, a cluster of small islands in the Ionian Sea, to Antikythera, an island lying between the Peloponnese and Crete.

Kotzias said it is “an important political expansion of the country's sovereignty for the first time since [Greece] incorporated the Dodecanese [islands],” adding that the presidential decrees are ready.

Kotzias resigned last week over acrimony with the head of the leftist-led government's coalition partner and defense minister, Panos Kammenos.

Spot on,but actually they are making things even worse,because they didn’t extend the eastern territorial waters,where we have problems with Turkey,so essentially,we adopt the Turkish position that “the Aegean Sea is a special case”.

It's in Greece's rights to expand to 12 nautical miles via international law and there is no opposition on the Western front. The reason it hasn't done it *as Georgia pointed out* is that Turkey(that has already expanded its waters to 12 nautical miles) has put a casus beli in 1995 on Greece in case it tries to expand to 12 nautical miles in the Aegean, that's questionable by Greece so yeah this move is kinda like accepting the Durkish position on the Eastern front. Mind that Kotzias has declared that looking for a "peaceful" solution with Durkey is not be considered a sing of weakness. All in all, Greece is expanding into nothingness and seems like a show-off move that may give space to Durkey by a party whose idelogical mentors(Varoufakis, Konstantopoulou, Lafazanis) are long gone and has no substance besides acting as a proxy of IMF and the EU, oh and be nowhere to be found in the case of natural disasters.

By the way, all these peeps have interesting phenotypes.
