I'd love to learn more about Olędrzy. They're a fascinating part of Polish history. Though they aren't precisely the link between my country and Poland, as they were Northern Dutch, still somewhat indirectly.
Before migrating to Poland of ethnic-Dutch (Mennonites), Holland did trade extensively with Poland and the Baltics (Baltic Sea). They shipped wines and salt from France and came back with grain, iron, wood, weapons and gunpowder.
Knowing some Polish probably was a useful skill for a medieva Hollander who went there.

I still need to visit Danzig one day. I might just as well hop on a train to that region as well....
Wake up and smell the coffee.

Last time I was there this April.
all Żuławy region

In the 16th Century the Mennonites came to Żuławy from the Netherlands, bringing their tradition and culture as they settled.
my grandma from Konin baked donuts (pączki) with apples and raisins, now I see that was Dutch food, Polish pączek is filling with jam etc.

Polish members from Mazovia and other Małopolska, have you ever eaten pączek with apple and raisins?

Olędrzy settled everywhere in Poland, half of them weren’t Dutch but Belgian, Frisian, Danish, German, Scots, etc. I’ve got Olęder ancestry from my maternal grandfather’s family.
