Ideally the drinking age should be about 25 to minimise harm to developing brains, and also to keep irritating young fuckwits out of any pub. But if an 18 year old can destroy their body with cigarettes, why can't that same 18 year old have a beer?

I also doubt the rates of teen alcohol consumption in the US would double if they legalised it.



The age to drink in Canada is 19, but people commonly drink when they are younger ranging from a holiday/celebratory drink or sips for younger people to full-blown house parties and stuff depending on how people parent. Overall, the idea of restricting drinking to 21+ year olds doesn't really make much sense to me. The issue more often than not isn't people drinking per se, it's where they are drinking or with whom.

It's funny how you only hear about this "college rape culture" in America where the drinking age is the highest of any developed first world country.
