Even though I prefer isolationism so I don't agree with the politicians.

But Greeks perceive themselves as noble, educated, civilized compared to their neighbours. And during communication with some non-Greek Balkanite, they act as the other person must be required to have special attitude towards them. Most of the time their reason to behave like that is their illusion coming from the past, yet there is a lack of manners and education and whatsoever. They probably do not realize that, but such behaviour cannot be a base for a friendship.
I've seen this behavior from Greeks on TA, and even on a few occasions outside TA (in places like YouTube and other forums). But for the most part, Greeks seem to like Bulgaria. Though this is just my view as an outsider and maybe doesn't mean much.

But anyways on the topic of thread, Bulgaria seems to be the least "aggressive" nation in Southeastern Europe. I rarely see them talking about taking back "lost territories" or making other nationalistic remarks. There's no real dispute between them and their neighbors. They even recognized [North] Macedonia's church. The relations between Bulgaria and all its neighbors seem to be either positive or neutral. Somewhat of an anomaly in the Old World (outside Western Europe).

They "like" us because in their opinion we are on the correct path (EU, NATO etc), unlike our neighbours. Yet their traditional mentality is the same.

Bulgaria in the past had the reputation of Albania today. There is a saying the Bulgaria borders Bulgaria as half of our ethnic territory remained in Greece, Serbia, Romania, Turkey. All those countries fought against Bulgarism until WW2. And they succeeded. Bulgarians have been dissapointed because of the three bloody wars they fought in to unite all Bulgarian lands, yet no results. Later on, communism totally destroyed Bulgaria. Serbs actually played their cards good as they didnt attack Macedonia during the Yugoslav wars. If that had happened, we would have been a factor during the Yugoslav wars as we were going to be the country who was going to destroy Serbian forces.

As a result we have Bulgarians who dont really have ethnic sense and 2 million Bulgarians who identify as Macedonian. Our neighbours successfully managed to remove Bulgaria and Bulgarians as a factor on the Balkans. Thats why Greeks like us. If Macedonia was part of Bulgaria as it had to be, I am not sure if Greeks would have been very positive oriented.

The governments might be in perfect relations, but Bulgarians and Greeks dislike each other.
Wrong, only you hate Greeks because you are a self hating Bulgarian possibly of gypsy or Turkish origin

I agree with Queen Greeks don't dislike Bulgarians. We are pretty neutral. I have lost count of how many times my parents have been invited to Bulgaria by Bulgarians.

Some Bulgarians tend to be good ass lickers of foreigners. Thats one of our negative national traits. I remember one of my classmates back in high school. She lived in Germany for some period of time and she had Greek friends in school. They constantly spread their propaganda to her, that shes Greek, that Burgas is originally a Greek town, how this and that Bulgarian dish was Greek. Yet she didnt say even a word. But those are the modern Bulgarians.

I am of mixed heritage, one of my ancestors is Greek, I've probably got my swarhty look from there, who knows.

    Typical is a big call.

I disagree with the Arab comment though.
