So, is anyone on here interested in birds or birdwatching? I just noticed yesterday the Swifts have returned from Africa.
So this can be a sort of pictures and discussion thread. Posted any birds you like.

Swifts:



Atlantic Puffins:









Atlantic Puffins - found around rocky coasts of Scandinavia, Faroe, Iceland, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and England.

Little Auks:





Little Auks - found in Greenland, Iceland, Russian Arctic islands, Svalbard and wintering in Eastern England and the North Sea.

Black Grouse:



Black grouse are found throughout Northern Europe mostly in upland areas. Restricted in UK to Scottish highlands, a few areas of the Pennines and Snowdonia.

Unfortunately these are restricted to Scotland. Maybe they were native to England and Wales a few centuries ago but the forests are a lot smaller and more broad-leaf than they used to be (it requires coniferous forests) and the climate has warmed making most of Britain unsuitable for it.
In Scotland it is under threat and is one of the birds most likely to go extinct in Britain. But it is being supported by conservation groups so hopefully it survives and begins to thrive.

The mating call of cappercailes is quite funny to listen to.

Red Grouse:





An endemic sub-species of the continental Willow Grouse, the Red Grouse is only found in Western and Northern Parts of the British Isles, mainly in Scotland, Northern England and North Wales.

British game bird shooters have long tried to classify it as a separate species, but most people except it as a sub species of the European Willow Grouse that evolved in isolation now.

Oh Im huge fan of birds. Id like to surround myself with them as much as possible. My grandfather used to be mad canary breeder. There were like dozens of canaries living in his house. it was amazing.

Yeah, I've got a Canary too and a Zebra finch from a friend to keep him company (only one because the rest of them died before I got them.
