How European is Israel in your opinion?

In your opinion, how European is Israel?

You may take into consideration what you deem important, it's your argument and your opinion.

In my opinion, it appears to be really quite European (possibly the most European place outside of European continent proper?), when one considers:

- its mixed law system of Germanic/Napoleonic (coded) civil law and Anglo-Saxon common law functioning of judicial precedent/case law.
- democracy
- free market and property rights
- Ashkenazi/Sephardi European Jewish population and the European intellectual traditions from various countries
- everyday customs of average citizens, culture, nightlife, leisure, hobbies, interests
- despite of quite a remote location, an impressive degree of integration with Europe and North America

It's a Western outpost

It's pretty much apart of the Western world, obviously it is politically aligned with the west, more than any of it's nearby neighbours. I believe in Judeo-Christian values being not so dissimilar and both being apart of the Western cultural family, some may disagree.

Reasonable argumentation, I wouldnt say its the most European place outside Europe though, thats probably USA/Canada/Australia/Argentina/Uruguay and some other parts of latin america etc.

Actually this is an excellent thread idea, on whether Latin America, Turkey, Israel, Armenia, Georgia are more European
