    Yeah. Some shops sell it.

Kangaroo and emu meat is supposed to be the healthiest meat. Or so they say.

50k years ago, 90% of Australia's megafauna disappeared in a man-caused mass extinction effect. It happened about 10k years after the humans (Australian aborigines) migrated to Australia and around the time that the Australians learnt fire stick farming. Similar mass extinction events (though to a lesser degree) caused by man's migration occurred in most of the rest of the world. Only Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia were spared.

I don't want to get too off topic as that's a separate discussion, but the point is that Australia's ecosystem is unnatural and very imbalanced due to the artificial interference of man. Because of humans, Australia's carnivorous megafauna (thylacoleo, quinkana , wonambi, propleopus, etc.) disappeared. By the way, propleopus was a carnivorous/omnivorous kangaroo. Many herbivorous megafauna such as the diprotodon also disappeared. All the animals I listed coexisted with every animal alive today and many are still to this day part of Australian aboriginal mythology. Since kangaroos don't have natural predators to them all being killed by man, they started overpopulating and this isn't good for the crops there.

So I don't really oppose a culling of kangaroos to keep their numbers in check. Its very uncommon for a dingo or monitor lizard to kill a kangaroo and their population needs to be kept in check somehow. Too many of them could hurt the ecosystem. Calling it a genocide makes no sense since the goal is only to kill a number within a specific range rather than make them go extinct.

That is a good point that kangaroos have no real threat except from Crocodiles or venomous snake or spider bites. Crocodiles are only in certain locations up north so they hardly come in contact with the bulk of the Kangaroo population which are widespread.

Yeah it's very lean. Kangaroo tastes a bit like beef. Can be very nice, if cooked well.
