I was reading about bastard children during WWI, and how different countries had different approaches to them.

I was wondering if you guys thought parents of bastards should be able to have them retroactively legitimized by marrying after their birth.

So essentially somewhere in between? In the poll, that would be "Legitimized bastard"

No man, no one before thought an answer to the question.

However today most children born out of marriage, then "bastard" concept fell in disuse.

Who tf uses the term "bastard child" is this the 18th century, most people are born out of wedlock. Dumb term anyway, blame the kid why don't ya.

All of my friends are legitimate, though a lot have divorced parents. Bastardy may be common in Europe, but it's not common amongst the American middle and upper classes. The underclass here has a high bastardy rate, though.

Bastard is not a blaming term, it's simply a factual description, just like "Dutch", "Spanish", or "Turkish".
