They should have all rights as the legitimate, but it's the family's choice if they inherit any property or personal belongings, imo.

No, even in Rome you could not adopt a bastard son. You can have a secret legitimate child but bastards inherited nothing.

Even if we did the laws were diverse and only mattered for nobility, a peasant who owns nothing is not going to care. Idk where the OP is really from but in America you can sue for anything and win depending on the judge.
