ICE SWIM | Feeling the power from the cold

The winter is here again, and this time I wanted to prepare myself for this 6 cold months to come. This winter I want to feel the cold as a source of power, and not the opposite. I thought that taking a little swim in the ice cold water is the best way to start this winter, to really get into the very core of how cold feels like. Almost like a ritual. The ice swim become a symbol for not letting the cold take control of me.

And it's a way of testing myself. It's a strange feeling to do something when my whole body tells me to not do it. This is something I will try to do regularly during this winter. Because taking a ice swim really has the most amazing effect on our body and mind. I have never, ever felt so full of live as the two times I have taken a swim in ice cold water. It's like giving your body a power start.

This woman has some serious super-balls made of pure steel. I couldn't do that - plunge myself into icy water like that. I admire her for what she did. And the reason why she did it. Girl power!!

My chin was on my desk. I would never even have considered doing it. Not for a 1000 euro's.

Ice swimming championship in my hometown. That day it was - 33C during the championship and around - 40C during the night.

Wim Hoh a netherland guy promote also stuff like this. He has a breathing method and with the help of cold he says he can help the body to make amazing stuff.

He holds many world record.
I'am thinking to trying his method.

On Flemish television they did a cold endurance test on male celebs and female ones. The male ones were annoyingly wimpering like pigs and had me turn down the volume, the female ones just remained relaxed.

I suspect it was all overacted, but it's a widespread belief that women have a higher pain threshold and endurance than men.
