Grenada has become the ninth country that has retracted its recognition of Kosovo’s independence, said Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic and his counterpart from Grenada, Peter David, according to Serbia’s public broadcaster.
The Grenada Government has sent a note to Serbia saying it is reconsidering its position towards the status of Kosovo, Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) said.
Grenada believes it is of utmost importance to support a solution regarding the status of Kosovo that would be achieved through negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina, a note was reported as saying.
“Meanwhile, the Government of Grenada is halting any decisions or statements in regard to Kosovo’s status,” the note said.
Prior to Grenada, the Caribbean islands of Dominica and Sao Tome and Principe have withdrawn their recognition as well as Suriname, Liberia, Guinea Bissau, Burundi, Papua New Guniea and Lesoto.
