I believe they have a good deal in common with Mennonites, especially theologically. But as for their lifestyle, the Mennonites are much more accepting of modern conveniences and technology and basically live like the rest of us. The Amish are obviously quite different in that respect.

I learned of their existence from an episode of X-Files. Before I had never heard of them. I've found strange that they still lived and dressed like people of 1800. Also their rigid observance of the Bible and religion looks quite integralist, nevertheless they seem to be a pacific and hard-working community, If they are happy of their way of life, good for them.

In Europe we respect old cultures so this way of life is fascinating. They are good for American culture.
