In general, rednecks are considered bawdy working class people. They are typically ill bred and lacking in manners. Rednecks are all over the United States, not just in the South. While associated with rural areas, Country people are not necessarily rednecks. My family is Southern and with deeps roots in the South in the Colonial area, but they were not rednecks.

Most have German, Dutch, French and or Spanish bred in depending on their locality.

A lot are part black, saw a fair few colonial Americans from the deep south come up as like 90-99 percent British/Irish, 1-10 percent Sub Saharan African, on the 23andme Reddit. None of my Southern DNA matches (that I've checked) have any mud blood. And the names in their tree tend to all be English, though I know Ulster Scot heritage is significant.

Ulster Scots are feisty and troublesome but usually make good soldiers. Very common in the South.

Depends on where they originate in the South...
