Default How the U.S. got shafted out of the FN FAL

The FN FAL is one of the greatest battle rifles ever made. Politics caused the U.S. to pass on it while nearly every other NATO country in the world recognized its superiority. And the 7.62 NATO is one of the greatest battle rounds ever made. But we needed an intermediate round. Here's the story.
    More FN FAL:

Sometimes Enfield does things right. Normally when they're just polishing up an existing design. Like the L1A1 SLR, the British version of the FN FAL.

Why use foreign stuff when European stuff worked for over 40 years ? Let's develop something much like this for our own troops.

I looked these up online and apparently I can purchase one for between $900 - $4,500.

I have used an FN FAL, I liked it for the most part but it was a bit bulky for my liking, long, front-heavy, unwieldy for me.

FAL isn't so good for extreme conditions (reliability) like AK-47 and derivatives, also is too heavy and not ergonomic than modern rifles, its quality is the precision and power of its bullets.

Brazilian FALs are being retired, we are selling them to american civilian market, americans loves this rifle, despite they have the similar (but wooden made) M14.

Eh, retired and going to USA... curiously after they are being retired of Brazilian Army, its number increased on the hands of criminals...
