As a lot of artists know, oftentimes your art project takes a while to look like the finished product. I remember in art class I was making a paper mache flower cat hybrid. I had to do stuff like make the underlying shape. So it didn’t look like a cat for a while. Especially with the flower stem. Eventually when I added more details to the face someone randomly said “It’s a cat!” I thought it was obviously a cat for a while, but apparently not.
Right now I’m making a mink inspired scarf with needle felting. Somewhat like this.
Because of the technique I’m using it looks nothing like the finished product. I don’t want to explain to strangers the process and I don’t think they’re interested to be honest. So from now on I’ll say it’s surrealism and it will take me forever to explain. With surrealism anything kind of goes and most people understand how convoluted surrealism is. Most people probably aren’t interested in surrealism, so they won’t ask for more details. If they do I can make some bullshit up on the spot. That will help me develop my surrealism skills anyways. I’m interested in creating surreal art anyways. It’s just an interesting topic. I enjoy fashion, but I don’t find it as interesting to talk about.
