The landscapes of the peaks mountain of North Africa are reminiscent of Sardinian landscapes (in any case, the landscapes of Barbagia and some other area) and are very beautiful; my sardinian maternal grandfather (born in 1925) was born in Constantine, under the French occupation of Algeria, and he lived in the most "montagnard" (mountain dweller) corners of North Africa, because he did not like the desert part), but the rest .... I prefer Corsican landscapes, Provençal or Alsatian. I do not like sand too much.

Something was wrong with airplane and pilot didn´t want to risk flying over the sea so he landed it in the Algerian desert during the night.

We spent almost 24 hours there while waiting for new airplane from Frankfurt. Unfortunately, we were not able to leave airport facility cause nobody had visa but being there even on that stranded airport was a really good experience. People there were very friendly and really wanted to help. We landed there during Ramadan and there was no food available. Despite this, the local police tried to procure enough food for hundreds of people on multiple occasions. They helped in all possible ways.

Personally, I really enjoyed the adventure. Probably lot of people from the flight wouldn´t agree with me, especially those with little children. I had an opportunity to enjoy a whole day in desert which was new for me. Dawning in the desert was especially beautiful.
if you couldn't go out you missed the occasion to see the sky in the night : tons of stars as if they were around you it's explained by to the low population density
the weather is mild at night even in summer and the air is as fresh as in the mountains
tamanrasset is the main city of tuaregs who are known to be friendly and peaceful like most people of desert
