The main difference is, that Palaeatlantids are more classic Cromagnids, similar to Dalofaelid, just some local variants are more archaic, whereas Berid is typically more reduced and has an infantile tendency, but unlike Alpinid being still longheaded like the other Cromagnids.

Also Palaeatlantid is on average lighter and more common in the North, Berid is most common on the Iberian peninsula and the Mediterranean islands.

The next (then Southern) Cromagnid type geographically is Berberid, typical for some unmixed Berber groups and common among the Guanches.

The main difference is body height. Berids are short and more paedomorphic, Paleo-Atlantids tall and more robust.

In Lundman's typology, Cromagnoid Berbers were classified as Paleo-Atlantid and he was the one who coined the term 'Paleo-Atlantid' after all.

The skull morphology of the Cromagnoid Guanches is close to indistinguishable from that of other Cromagnoid variants. Some of them resemble northern Cromagnoids (according to Schwidetzky), others are southern Cromagnoids.

Classification based on pigmentation only is pseudoscientific as pigmentation just consists of one or two traits that don't affect the skull shape.

There is a plate in one of von Eickstedt's books, where the Ladoga skull from Northeast Europe and a skull from Corsica are depicted on the same page, to represent Cromagnid survivals in Neolithic Europe.

Eickstedt and Schwidetzky surely rated the importance of pigmentation as lower than Lundman did, who was somewhat of a Nordicist.
