    People have been telling the same about Czechoslovakia. National Geographic called it "awful" and "unfair handicap in 1921, 3 years after its foundation. I have hated Swiss German term Tschechie, which sounded like Asia to me, today I use it exclusively. Czechia is correct concerning linguistic, has a decent pedigree in Latin. Get used to it or make peace with it, Czechia is here to stay. Where do you hear Moravia and Silesia in the Czech Republic? Where was Moravia in Czechoslovakia?

    Not really, I haven't ever heard anyone say Czech like they would Chechen but I've heard people say Czechia like it's Chechenya.

    There are lots of countries whose majority is Christian but their names in Turkish end with -istan. Such as:

    Yunanistan = Greece
    Macaristan = Hungary
    Sırbistan = Serbia
    Bulgaristan = Bulgaria
    Gürcistan = Gerogia
    Ermenistan = Armenia
    Hırvatistan = Croatia
    Notice a theme? All those nations are former Ottoman Turkish colonies, I'd hazard a guess that's why they have "stan" in the name in Turkish language.

    I use Czechia usually, not Czech republic.

    Czech Republic sounds more appealing to me because the word "Republic" in combination with the word Czech sounds very liberating . It implies freedom, liberty, rule of law, kind of like a "safe heaven" in the middle of Europe (like Switzerland but more dynamic and crazy). It just sounds very cool - like a country in which you can do anything, say anything you want and noone can do a damn thing about it And it is in the "Czech Republic" that I imagine blonde Russian-German mix long-legged slim princesses dressed in an elegant way attending parties in Prague. I'm not sure how close to reality is this image is but this is how I see the Czech Republic.

    Now, don't get me wrong, "Czechia" has its charms as well but I imagine Czechia to be mostly a remote mountainous region with Eastern European farmlands, traditional, peaceful, quiet, with traditional farmers with fork and moonshine-derivative products and golden blonde women with flowers in their hair.

    Which one would be closer to reality ? Probably neither

    What if they become a kingdom? It will be the Kingdom of Czech Republic?

    Nah, must be Czechia.

    Bohemians are not synonymous with Czechs. Not anymore at least. The term has expanded.

    The term Czechs already includes Moravians and Czech Silesians. Not just Bohemians.

    When you say "Poles", do you mean just people from the region of Wielkopolska?

    Originally (in the 900s) Poles were only people from what is today Wielkopolska. But throughout history this term has expanded into all areas ruled by the Piast Dynasty. And our original name was replaced by Wielkopolanie (Greater Poles).

    Bohemians are to Czechs, what Greater Poles are to Poles.
