So far using FamilyTreeDNA, MyHeritage and AncestryDNA I've been able to find around 40 people whose DNA matches mine and whose tree overlaps mine. In total I've found 24 ancestors who were siblings of a DNA match. It looks like this may be going up a bit more as I'm just having a look through Ancestry and am finding more.
Marked green those who are considered confirmed by autosomal DNA tests:
It's only my paternal and maternal lines that haven't been confirmed now.
The maternal I don't have fully tested on Ancestry at the moment, but it's also from India, which reduced the chances of finding anything.
I think the paternal line is probably wrong. My Y test comes up with the closest matches being Proctors and I've just come up as a match with someone with Proctor on Ancestry - the only so named family in the county.
I'm told that my grandmother's father died in WWI. I looked up the local men who died and was fixed on one guy whose forename and middle name are a masculine version of my grandmother's. Today I've matched with a close relative of his. So eight years since I began it looks like DNA could have provided the key.
