It may be a relatively small movement, but some French-Canadians actually do want to join the USA. See Parti 51, for example. For one, I absolutely support keeping Canada together and oppose the independence of Quebec. If, however, Quebec did separate - and the possibilities were only an independent Quebec or joining the USA - I would accept the latter, but only on the condition that they are admitted as a territory and not a State. They won't push French on us like they do in the rest of Canada.

They certainly do... without much success, but they do all they can.

It was de Gaulle whom ignited a semblance of pan-French consciousness/nationalism that spread especially in overseas French territories and so forth. Nevertheless, Canada recognizes its Anglo-French history that allows these provinces to retain their cultural history via bilingualism. Regardless, they are better off remaining in the Canadian union.

In Quebec it is compulsory to speak French, English is rarely used.
