This way you can control what they teach and the clerics wont speak against the force they recieve their paychecks from.

This could lead to a more Arab/Syrian identiry instead of a religious one. They been there before and can go back.

The will of uprising amoung the Sunnis must be crumbled anyway after this conflict.
Why not, because things turned out so well for Turkey that 100 years after Ataturk the country is almost an Islamic dictatorship.

If we have learnt something from history is that you can’t suppress religion, especially a religion that represents the majority of the population. What Assad can do,throw in jail millions of Sunnis?

Apart from religion,Assad regime was extremely corrupt,a good comparison would be with our Pasok governments during the 80s.

Well they turned actually pretty well before Erdogan there cant be no other opiniom on that.

You can controll religion or try to, everythinh better than leave them isolated from governmemt control. Cause this will 100% result in jihad.

Of course, marginalization of whole rural areas by Assad and the drought that hit Syria in 2007 and resulted in millions of rural unemployed Syrians moving to the cities are among the most important factors of the civil war,it has a sectarian nature of course, but do you think that if the average Syrian lived well would really care about the background of Assad?

You think before Erdogan Turkey was the perfect democratic paradise?

Because to me it looks like a non stop switch from Islamic governments to military coups,I’m sure Marmara can enlighten you more than me about that.

All I know is that the placed where the protests started like Aleppo and Daara were actually economix strongholds.

The arab spring wasnt economic related but politically by people in the backround.

Look what happend prior to the arab spring especially in regards to syria.

    Friendship pipeline
    Syria and its central bank
Sudden US involvement in all countries of the Arab Spring.

Call it a conspiracy, but I think it play a role.
