Glad the Serbs see the truth on the matter. Most people in the west tend not to, especially the older generations.

Mostly due to the Islamic factions not being able to put their sect aside.

Comparing Ataturk to Assad is an insult to Ataturk.

I have a respect for Assad and I believe it is better if he stays in power; however, let's not forget that he doesn't have what it takes to be a revolutionary leader who can radically change the country. He made many compromises with Islamists, especially when it came to Islam as a state religion and the fact that the President must be a Muslim.

Sorry but, despite a very unpopular government with Islamic tendencies, Ataturk's achievements have been preserved for the most part. Sharia law has a lesser possibility of being institutionalized in Turkey than in Western Europe with radical Muslim populations. That being said; Sharia courts are operating in the UK.

As a woman; would you prefer to live in any part of Syria even though Assad, who is supposedly more secular than Erdogan, is in power or in Turkey? Turkish law is %100 secular and gender-neutral, largely derived from the Swiss Civil Law. And you can wear miniskirts and drink alcohol in public without any issues.
