Was there a war between Catholics and Protestants in Germany as in Ireland and England?

the Thirty Years' War started out as a religious-driven war. But it later morphed into a territorial war.

Another question does the modern German language have similarities with Latin languages ​​such as French, Italian or Spanish? If so, which one does it relate to the most?

German language uses a lot of Latin words like most European languages. Also there are grammatic similarities because both are Indo-European languages. Besides that I can't say which Romance language is closest to German. My guess would be French. But i don't know for sure.

I speak French, but if I couldn't I still would understand a lot of French words. But that probably goes for all Romance languages. And probably all indo-european languages.

Swiss German is the same as German basically but the dialect is very heavy it's hard to follow. Sometimes when I listen to Swiss radio I'm shocked how little I actually understand. But if the dialect is not too heavy I can understand everything because it's the same as German just with a different accent.
