Default How different do you think Latin American countries will be in the year 2050?

By different, I mean in any way: Racially, Economically, Politically, etc.

Of course, no one can really guess the future but what are you predictions, especially for your own country.

Here are some of my predictions:

    1. Chile, Argentina, Uruguay will become full fledged first world countries with HDI's similar to Spain or Italy today

    2. Argentina's racial demographics will slowly become more like Chile's today

    3. Uruguay's racial demographics will slowly become more like the Southeastern part of Brazil today

    4. Belize will become a Hispanophone country with Spanish replacing English as its official language

    5. Venezuela will declare bankruptcy then rally aorund a fascist, far right Capitalist who will try to restore everything

    6. Mexico will become somewhat like Argentina today, with a higher standard of living and less cartel violence but with tons of income inequality and political corruption

    7. Costa Rica will become like Chile today, slowly entering the 1st world with tons of stability and safety but will end up becoming crowded and overburdened with tons of immigrants from Central America

    8. Cuba will collapse, leading to yet another migrant crisis in Latin America and the USA

    9. Most of the DR will become racially similar to the Anglo Caribbean, with only Central Cibao being distinguishable from the rest

    10. Peru will become like Costa Rica today economically

    11. Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador will see very little economic progress but El Salvador will become more Tri-racial over time

That's all I have for now.

Venezuela is not pretty far from declaring bankruptcy. I mean, Venezuela is already on the brink of bankruptcy. You don't need to wait more than 30 years to see that happen.

As for Colombia, I think that a socialist candidate will get elected president in the 2022 elections. People are growing tired of the continuously inefficient management of the right wing presidents that we've had (pretty much all). As a matter of fact, we were pretty damn close to having a socialist president in this year's elections. Duque only won by a small margin, with Petro not too far behind. So I think that's an omen that points out to a socialist turnout in the next elections.

This possibility is quite frightening, honestly, because then my country would be in risk of becoming another failed socialist, castro-chavista country like Venezuela.

That sounds scifi. I consider Uruguay and Argentina first world, not so Chile even although Chile became to develop itself.

The whole prediction list sounds like the script for a low budget, straight to TV movie.

This analysis sounds almost perfect .

    I don't think so.
May be a nationalist far right candidate could be the next president in your country, it's more possible than a leftist option. You are a clever folk and you are not going to take that absurd way.

Uh, not really. There are a lot of "mamertos" i.e; socialist/left wing supporters. In fact, like 90% of the people my age are mamertos. So it's likely that will happen. I'm not saying that the current system we have is perfect, because it absolutely isn't, but I'd rather keep the flawed, neoliberal system with corruption and other problems we have, than a socialist "paradise".
