Struggles within Ethnically Mixed Relationships

i sometimes think of this when i see an attractive female of another esotic/non euro ethnicity, i wonder if one european was to marry that woman, what if "insert OP options" that would happen? i think it does happen indeed

i'm mixed with a bunch of ethnicities but don't think about it in daily life. in a relationship i don't think it would really come up either... i don't even know how to use a slur towards another european lol, they're all equal to me.

i think tension comes more with interracial couples, especially between the two families *****sometimes

I forgot to add, my ex seemed to use his heritage to feel superior to other Americans. That was also obnoxious. He would constantly brag about the different ethnicities he gets mistaken for and talk about how much more "greek" he is than modern Greeks.

This thread was inspired by a few private conversations I had with Mortimer.
We both agreed this might be a worthy topic for discussion on TA. So this can be considered a joint thread idea. But I decided to start it

The premise behind this thread is that in any given romantic relationship and/ or marriage, there are often conflicts within them. That is a given. But we have not come across a thread specifically dealing with the topic of how racial or ethnic differences within that relationship might impact on that.

Below are some very loose examples of what I am talking about; more questions can be added/addressed:

Have any TA members experienced one or more of the following:

1.) Racial or Ethnic differences as a source of tension.

2.) Does one of the two parties ever use their ethnicity as means of 'superiority' over their partners.

3.) Are ethnic slurs ever used towards one another during a heated argument.

4.) Have you or your partner ever felt undeserving of the other because one might be viewed as a minority--or as an ethnicity of 'shame', so to speak; e.g. one is an 'Anglo-Saxon' white, while the other is mixed of some sort.


Please share how you or your partner deals with these issues, should they ever come up in the relationship.
