Default What would the West's relationship be like with the Middle East if it was Christian?

If the Middle East was predominantly Christian instead of Muslim (think of everywhere being like Lebanon) what difference if any would it make?

If middle-east was christian from day one, everything would be different, no moors, no crusades, too many variables, impossible to predict. Byzantine Empire could have survived a bit longer tho.

They very likely would be a part of the wider Christendom and Eurosphere. It would have meant a very interesting change in power dynamics and probably a much more peaceful world.

I voted for "Not different at all, as religious differences contribute little to the tension". It would be seen as another Russia or something like that if it was part of some Christian mega country.

I disagree that the Middle East would be more peaceful if it had Christianity. It is the same as African Christians. You cannot change their culture and mentality.

They probably wouldn't have tried to fight us to convert us. The european meds would probably see themselves less as Europeans and more as Meds. European Meds would have been less admixed. The sea trade of the Med wouldn't have been completely stopped by Barbary Pirates. No European slavery.

    Curse Mohammed forever.

well, in roman and greek times, places like anatolia and the levant and north africa were part of the greco-roman world, so they would probably still be part of the west.
