Why am I asked where I am from as a pickup line?

So no one really asks me where I’m from unless it’s a guy that’s hitting on me. At a club this guy repetitively asked me where I’m from. I kept saying that I’m local, but he eventually straight up asked what my ethnicity is.

This reminds me when a doctor in serbia in army during check up asked me whether im roma, he repeated his question because i didnt answered after i said i am he said "yes i knew it you look coloured". why is this important if im roma, and why a doctor in army would ask me that, also if he knew it and im coloured why he asked, does he ask every roma? there are a few roma in army even with me there were a few in a neighbouring room etc. i dont think this is a common practice to ask someone whether he is roma, i dont mind really but i think it is unusuall.

Did you mention you were also part Serbian?

yes, i stated my background how it is. but only after being asked repeatedly or i wouldnt have talked about it.

edit: back then i was not into anthropology or ethnicities etc. it was when i was 20. i also didnt took pictures or anything what i do now.

through stormfront. first i read only and saw lots of hate towards roma. then i made a first post about roma on stormfront. and with time i discovered more forums, and asked first time for classification but later i got very drawn into it because it was so fun. and i stayed around in this world.
