Its mostly the absence of levant-like admixture in some of these islands. In some cases, it can be some Slavic influence seeping over from the mainland.

Islanders and Sicilians get their mena from different sources. Islanders from the Levant/Anatolia, and Sicily from North Africa. The least mena islanders are probably Ionians and Euboans. The most Mena islands are Karpathos and the Dodecanese from what ive seen.

This doesn't make sense because on GEDmatch, Sicilians match with Levantines before North Africa.
