They are genetically closer to SE European peoples but I think they would prefer to be non-euro

Just because some forum trolls are gonna call me owd and wannabe white I won't give up on standing up for what is good for this country and nation. Turkish law is based on European law, especially Swiss, and Turkey has made many reforms as a part of the EU process. Turkey was called the 'Sick man of Europe' in WW1. Many Turks today live a western way of life, watching theatre, ballet and opera. Opera and ballet are not really my things, I am more into Rock but that does not matter, it is my duty to defend them because I group myself with them. We are not gonna just turn ourselves back on centuries old cultural accumulation that goes as far back as 1800s. We will maintain it.

It is a must for Turkey to remain on this track. It is what has saved this country from becoming an Islamic regime. If the cost of it is being an owd, let it be.

I wouldn't say Turks are European since they speak an Asian language, same for the Hungarians. Being "Westernized" and "European" are not the same thing. In that case, the Japanese could be considered Euros.

This sounds great, but it looks to me as if Turkey is back pedaling on secularism.

That is true, however we are not ruled by Islamic law.

The difference being is that they are genetically and geographically a far cry from Europe, whereas Turkey is in Eurasia and hosts millions of people with ancestry in Europe which is why its status is controversial.

And yes, Turks should cherish their Central Asian heritage. Women were equal to men, fighting on the back of horses alongside their husbands in ancient Turkic culture. It is something to be proud of. Sedentary societies confined women to home, both in Europe and the Middle East. But Genghis Khan, a true warrior, said his wife is a ruler alongside him.

The Turkic heritage is a shield against Islamization.

I am Bulgarian and I consider our Turks European. I cant distinguish them from Bulgarians - well lets say 90% of them. However 10 % look very different -
like this singer for example: https://www.google.com/search?q=%D1%...w=1152&bih=611
But some Turks look more European than me, this guy for example (Oktay Enimehmedov):
