Default Which family names sound Jewish?

I'm going back over my family tree trying to find the lone Jew. Here are some names that seems suspect to me. Should I research any of these further?

    On my dad's side:

    Haufe-Germany
    Meier- Germany
    Dernier-Germany
    Reidlingshoeffer-Germany
    Kauslauskaz- Lithuania
    Buebelis- Lithuania
    Gregaitis-Lithuania

    Mom's side
    Kulp
    Denzler
    Knipe
    King
    Taylor.

I have ruled out my mother's maiden name Gilman , as being Jewish. Although it sounds really Jewish- it's one of those cases where it's an overtly English surname and there is no evidence of any Jewish ancestry on that line. It was originally French "Gilliam" and they were in the Queen's Rangers and members of the Episcopal church in Colonial Virginia.

I've heard that jews have mostly "berg" and "stein" ending surnames, but it isn't a rule. None of your sound particularly jewish to me. as far as I know.

Meier could be. It's either German or Jewish, if German it could be a hereditary occupational name meaning "mayor", if Jewish it could mean "enlightened" or "enlightener".

    that's the one I'm thinking.

The name Meier is a proud symbol of ancient Jewish culture. Before the late Middle Ages, people were known only by a single name. However, as the population increased and travelers set out on their journeys, it became necessary for people to adopt a second name to identify themselves. Two of the most common types of Jewish family names are patronymic surnames, which are derived from the father's given name, and metronymic surnames, which are derived from the mother's given name. The name Meier is a Jewish Ashkenazic name that was originally derived from the Yiddish male given name Meyer. This personal name was in turn derived from the Hebrew name Meir, which means enlightener.

There aren’t a ton of exclusively Jewish surnames, with the exception of Cohen, Israel and Levi, I believe. A lot of Jewish sounding names are actually common in German Catholics.

Do you have any DNA evidence of Jewish ancestors? If so, and you can’t trace back an ancestor, it’s possible that there was an adoption in the family or infidelity.

I have a Mayers in my family tree, my dad’s great great grandad. He was born in a village in Germany and when I search his dad’s name from his marriage certificate it shows someone with that name as a prominent Jewish man there. It was a small place so I’d think it unlikely there were two. However, if my Mayers was Jewish my dad would be about 6.25% Jewish and he’s never actually scored any Jewish on any tests, so I don’t know.
