no, i don't think it's necessary. i don't believe it brings the kid to respect you and resolve issues appropriately.... and it looks low class on the parents' behalf.

I once did but no longer. It's more productive to take what they like away from them as a punishment. Most of the time when a parent hits their kid it's out of frustration, which means it's more about relieving that frustration than correcting bad behavior.

Nope. Never touched my kids. They're behavior is very good. I follow thru with punishments (taking away tv, tablet). Also, I can use the "Dad" (booming and authoritative i.e. scary) voice when necessary and they shape right up.

tbh when i got in trouble my parents would take away my phone for weeks, i would have much rather 5 minutes of spanking than that

That being said I don't have any children and I wouldn't put it past me to wake them up with an unloaded gun to their head if they keep touching and moving around my stuff. I say unloaded to avoid the complications that would arise if the gun accidentally went off.
