Default Greek surnames ending in 'akis'

I've heard people say that people with 'akis' ending surnames have Cretan origins. It's odd because i have family with that ending in their surname. But no connection to Crete.

    Any truth to this?

Surnames with this ending are mostly common in Crete and then Mani

Some Smyrnians have surnames with this ending as well
The Talmud tells us that the only language the Torah could be translated into elegantly is Greek.

There are Greeks with a surname that has the ending -akis all across the Greek world. It's no big deal.

It is just that the highest concentration of people with the akis ending can be found in Crete.
Being Greek is an experienced grounded into nation, not consumption.

You are probably a Greek, in denial, who just started to unravel the thread of his real heritage.

Also, - idis can be Thracian and Anatolian, but it is found in surnames that are derived from professions.

Pontians have a lot of - antis and - iadis, as well.

Nah. My family had this name imposed on them by the greek church. Before that the ending was 'ov'.

Prinses, I don't want to come across as a douchebag, but you are using both the Komnenos Eagle and the Crescent with star, in your avatar.

Just a small FYI, the people carrying the Trebizond Eagle as their banner were massacred, on a genocidal level, at the hands of the people carrying the red banner with the crescent and moon.

I understand your point, but I have nothing to do with that. These cyber banners I use is just for fun and I’m not looking at what happened since I don’t know it well.

Cretan fighter had sex with some cuman tatar gypsy woman.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Eph. 6:12

Definition of untrustworthy and loose character are those that don't believe in God.
