"Thus Spoke Zarathustra: A Book for All and None" is probably the most known book from Friedrich Nietzsche, it was composed in four parts between 1883 and 1885. Much of the work deals with ideas such as the "eternal recurrence of the same", the parable on the "death of God", and the "prophecy" of the Übermensch. The book chronicles the fictitious travels and speeches of Zarathustra. Zarathustra's namesake was the founder of Zoroastrianism. For me the message is simply life affirmative. The eternal recurrence, found elsewhere in Nietzsche's writing, is also mentioned. "Eternal recurrence" is the possibility that all events in one's life will happen again and again, infinitely (which, according to Nietzsche, is the highest form of life affirmation), because also the good things will happen again and again.
I highly recommend the book - its a good entrance into Nietzsches philosophy.

Undoubtedly one of the greatest books of philosophy ever written.

It is clearly one of the highlights, not only of Nietzsche but of all (german) philsophy in general. Here he criticizes the emerging liberalism (the last man, slave morality) and fathoms the causes of the encompassing decay, which undoubtedly existed at that time too - just think of industrialization - and one of the big causes was/is (christian) morality.
Besides that, his way of expressing is simply beautiful!

It is the only book by Nietszche I ever read but I read it over 20 years ago. I read much more of Schopenhauer's work.
