Although Karakachanov technically is right (Macedonians and Bulgarians have the same origin and were one nation till the 40ties), I don't see this going anywhere apart from creating division yet again. Practically all those exchanges influence negatively the already not great relations between both nations. Maybe we should simply let them be and let them study whatever history they want to. The respected universities and historians share Bulgarian view so. I think the way ahead could be only if Bulgaria becomes really prosperous (how would that happen though?) and the Macedonians would be drawn to us without any attempts to squash their propaganda, because in the end we are too similar.

Let the joint commissions do their job. Karakachanov is just playing politics. Zaev’s comments were about Aegean Macedonians in Greece. He had no right to but in and make unnecessary threats. He will lose support even from Bulgarophiles in R Macedonia doing this.
