I doubt very much that mestizos considered themselves white. They know they are a minority and can make a profit.

After a few generations many of them become like brown 'White' people. You also have to remember that some mestizo Hispanics distance themselves from, and insult other mestizos in an effort to show how American they are, either subconsciously or otherwise.

It may be but I have only seen those cases with Mexicans and Cubans.
