Raki in your country

I still have some of it at home. I brought two bottles from Turkey back in April. I liked it.

This is just chemical alcohol mixed with water and anise oil, launch it in sewer, it is full of lead metal.

In ex YU they are Rakije from various fruits.
In Serbia and Bosnia Šljivovica (from plum) is most popular, and in Herzegovina, Montenegro and Dalmatia most popular iz Lozovača (from graps).

I tasted raki in Greece (made from grapes) and I enjoyed of it very much!
In my coutry we dont produce raki but Sliwowitz (Slivovice, Slivovica, plum brandy).
I am from eastern Moravia, where almost everybody has plum trees at his own orchard to have source for slivovica.
One is fermentated in the barrels at home and later moved it to local distillery where you will pay to make it for you (plus taxes for government).

In Crimea, many people distill grape press cake, which is wine production waste, in fact.
The resulting evil drink is called "chacha" or simply "samogon".

Old Slavic brandy was Medovina (eng. Mead), that is brandy of honey.

Medovina still exist in some mountain areas of Serbia, Bosnia and Montenegro.

I don't know how similar or different it is to Raki but I'm not a fan of alcohol in general. Especially spirits, they just taste horrible.

Despite the name similarities between 'raki' and 'rakija', this drink seems to be much more akin to ours than raki is. Even that wikipedia article has it listed under 'similar products'.
