Oh, it's just because I am a big fan of the colonial environments.
I like a lot colonial cities. I've gone to Granada and Leon, in Nicaragua, and I loved both. The only problem is the weather, it's too hot and humid there...
Another beatiful colonial city, is Olinda, in Pernambuco, Brazil, but the same problem about the weather and it's a little unsafe.

As I told you, me and my children love mexican cuisine, and everything about there.
I am very interested in your history, especially maya and aztec callendars, and ancient cities.
Unhappily because I couldn't go to Guatemala and Mexico I haven't visited the most of the mayan empire, the only which I visited is Copán, in Honduras... I haven't traveled more north and west in Latinamerica, but for sure must be my next travel.
My wife is costa-rican, and my older sons born there, so the next time that we will go to CA, we must to go to Mexico too...! It's mandatory!

Interesting.I like colonial cities and the streets structures etc. Mexico's colonial cities in west-central Mexico are in higher altitude and some have year round weather of 65-75 degrees like San Luis Potosi etc .When i have time i will post pics of San Luis Potosi and other colonial cities.

Weather, cost of living and safety is important to the American gringos who retire in Mexico.
