Default How common are the names 'Tatiana' and 'Gianna' for Greek women?

    How common are they?

I always assumed Tatiana is a Russian name and Gianna is Italian but I have seen both for Greek women.

Tatiana is rare and of Roman origin.

Gianna is Greek and common from Ioanna (male Ioannis-Giannis), like John the Baptist (Yokhanan).

Then why is Tatiana most common as a Russian name?

Also in Greek are Gianna and Ioanna pronounced the same? I thought one of them is equivalent to Jane and the other to Joanna.

My cousin is named Gianna (pronounced Yianna) but it's usually romanized as Ioanna, or in English as Joanna.

I thought someone said on here once that Gianna = Jane in English, and Ioanna = Joan or Joanna.

    The name Gianna is common

Maybe not as common as some other names like Maria but still quite common

The name Tatiana is not that common
The Talmud tells us that the only language the Torah could be translated into elegantly is Greek.

It's probably common among Slavs because of Orthodox church.

    Gianna is pronounced Yanna.

Ioanna like Ioannis is the original name, Gianna/Giannis is the shortened form. It's not Romanized, it's the Hellenized version of Yokhanan/Yohanan.

Sorry you misunderstood, romanized is the word we use when you write out a non Roman alphabet word in Roman letters
