I think the US and Canada are the only ones who approach a slightly satisfactory level of representative ethnic presence in media and entertainment. Latin America, as a whole, is a joke in this department. They are still White worshiping to the death, despite the majority non-White population.

That's the point though - I am not so familiar with Canadian media, but certainly US media (at least once you take out the admittedly substantial number of Black sitcoms and hip-hop/rap scene) is not really that multiethnic either. California and New York, where several US programmes are set, are especially whitewashed.

Yeah, but at least there are Black and even a few Asian or "Latino" programs, news anchors, journalists, movie actors, etc. (though surprise, surprise! The "latino" ones are heavily White-washed just like the Latin American programs at home). In Latin America, you don't even get that. North American media simply gives its local audience a more realistic picture of society than other countries in the American continent. Their societies are heavily segregated, so it makes sense they'd have more racially separate movies, series, etc. Latin America could have a kick-ass media that promotes racial equality, cooperation and solidarity, but it unfortunately follows an age-old pattern of White supremacy.

Not sure if you've seen them, but over the last few days I made some threads about Colombian actors. Apart from a gross under-representation of Blacks, they don't look too different from Colombia's ethnic reality:

Most likely Canada. Latin American countries always tend to hire White looking people for the jobs in the media.

Up to a point, but I think that stereotype is exaggerated. The celebrities tend to be lighter-pigmented than the average for each country, but in terms of facial features and maybe even pigmentation itself, many if not most still wouldn't pass in Europe. And while it isn't the focus of this thread, I also get the impression that many MENA (including Turkey and Israel) and especially South Asian countries tend to favour lighter-pigmented celebrities too.

I'm not sure about other Latin American countries but Brazillian media in the last 10 years isn't really that unrepresentative of Brazilian population.

Of course there's a good proportion of people with even Northern European traits, but it's changing. Most actors, TV presenters and similar positions are Southern European looking or Pardo looking. Not that unrepresentative for Brazil. There's a lack of Black looking people, but let's be honest, people who look predominantly Black are a minority anyway.
