Hmm... I watched several soap operas of TV Globo and Record and the casting absolutely white. The unique soap operas in which casting has pardos are those that take race mixing, slavery and other topics in which you need to pick people of other race for the story.

But Brazil really have lots of whites when most other countries not. That being said, most novelas pre 2010 dont represent the reality.

Argentina not really IMO.
As CostaRicaBall said very well, regular roles are ok, integrated by regular Mediterranean phenotypes followed by some minor central-northern Euro (many of the last are from ashkenazi jew ancestry).
But talking about lower class the difference to real life is extra-huge.
And not because lower class here is substantially different to others, but because most maids and butlers in those novelas are the same to others talk with central argentinians accent while in real life most of people who do those works are from bordering (Bolivia, Paraguay) and other neightbouring (Perú, Ecuador) countries, and in some speciak cases are argentinians , but from the north or northwestern area (not allways totally different by phenotypes but absolutely different by accents).
So in my opinion at least in that sense it's not a good representation of the reality....
May be until 1950s 60s... but not in these times.
But well... indeed in my opinion novelas not necessary describe the real life in those aspects, probably...

Probably in the 30% range. About our telenovelas, it's definitely whiter than the common folks, but not the extreme of "looking Scandinavian", as some people claim on the Internet. I have also the impression that you see more Atlantids than Berids on many novelas, but not always.

Yeah I don't think Brazil is the worst in that regard by any means. I would say that countries with high Indo-Mestizo/Amerindian populations like Guatemala, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and, yes, Mexico tend to have the biggest discrepancy between the TV world and the real world.

Not sure about these Indo-Mestizo countries you mentioned, since I'm not too familiar with their media, but Mexican telenovelas air on Brazil for a long time, and I must say that, despite having a bigger proportion of whites than in the working classes, they are also display lot's of faces uniquely Latin.
