I'd like to remind everyone that many Americans tend to overestimate the abundance of their German ancestry. I know SO MANY Americans who obviously come from minimal Germanic ancestry who rep that one German ancestor they have and them alone. Acknowledging the predominance of English ancestry is almost taboo.

I still haven't done any of the DNA tests. I only have ancestry and immigration records to go by.

From viewing many DNA test results, I've realized many Americans are far less German than they thought.

You seemed East and Southern Europe influenced in the photos I have seen.

I think of typical Americans as an English, Irish, German admix.

I'm sure there's a decent number of fully German looking Americans who would pass in Germany easily, but I don't think it's the majority or average. I'd say they have a British Isles or light British Isles look.

No way English people can be spotted from a mile away among Americans there was a huge difference I noticed when I was in England.

The Anglo countries colonized by England all look quite similar, at their base. There's mixing between different European groups, and a lot of Americans are Euromutts, but I think they have a similar British Isles, base look.
