    Default Happy Nardugan

Tomorrow is Nardugan /Kündugan (rebirth of the Sun) Feast in Turkic world and here I want to celebrate this day with all Turkic ones as well as the others Lately it has been more and more popular in Turkey too like it is already among Central Asian and Siberian Turkic peoples. Its a pagan tradition that dates back to prehistoric times and has roots in Turkic peoples original religion Tengrism in which Ayaz Ata is reflection of their deity Ülgen:

It is believed that the day defeats night today with the will of Ülgen and he gives people the daylight and heat back after long cold winter nights

We celebrate it personally by lighting fires or candles along with ornamented pine trees

    So Happy Nardugan to all

Payna was a Turkic goddess of winter. She is associated with the pine tree and the pine nut, which featured prominently in her festivals and celebrations.

Below are pine trees, snow-covered in the Altai.
