How common are Amber Eyes?

Love this eye colour...wayyy better than brown (most bland colour ) need some more light eyes

Eye colour is influenced by a lot of genes but basically lighter brown has less melanin than dark brown eyes which is of course obvious. The light brown colour appears to be what a lot of Europeans with brown eyes have (also other populations). You don't get a lot of Europeans with the dark brown that Asians and Africans have.

Amber eyes have more of the yellow pigment as well as some melanin but leaning more with yellow. The eyes posted in this thread are hazel though.

They are pretty common in areas where are both green eyed people and brown eyed people (= where those can mix). For example in Britain.

They don't exists in areas which have blue eyed people and green eyed people but luckily lacks of brown eyed people .... like North Europe.

No, in Britain it is blue and green eyes which predominates by far. Even in Wales ( «dark Welshmen myth»), almost half of the population is blue eyed already, not counting those with green or gray eyes.

Chesnut color, again : the anglo-saxon taxonomy is very poor. Chesnut is chesnut, brown is brown.

French taxonomy is superior to Anglo-saxon taxonomy.

That sounds like a mixed eye colour or more commonly heterochromia which is quite common in my observation. My daughter has heterochromia her eyes are a light amber colour around the pupil and blue around the edges. Her eyes often look green because of this.

Hazel eyes are actually light brown. People often mistakenly called mixed eye colour hazel when that is the wrong classification.

Hazel are not plain light brown, they are mixture between light brown and green. They shift between those color mainly, sometimes also between brown/gold and green. They also one of eye colors which changes shades depending on surrounding.
