It's part of that "I'm not like other girls" mentality. An attempt to seem somehow unique or interesting while not being that at all.

The patriarchy doesn't exist, and heteronormativity sounds like a made up word but otherwise I agree. I would go further and say that those women who are sexually attracted to other women tend to be the butch/dyke/ugly type while the political lesbians are more attractive and feminine.

Also a lot of those "political lesbians" are not even "going with other women". They are often just straight women pure and simple, dating men while pretending to be something they're not just because they got drunk at a party once and made out with another woman. This is a very common thing in college campuses these days.

I've known a lot of lesbians irl, I've noticed with EVERY Lesbian couple, there's a butch masculine one who is usually pure Lesbo, and a feminine one, the feminine one often being Bisexual, or someone who previously dated men. I've never seen a butchie with a butchie, or a feminine bi with a feminine bi; it's like even in their atypical relationships, they still conform to traditional gender roles. Weird stuff.

Once I hear a woman explain that, the reason why some lesbian or bisexual women date a tomboy girl (or whatever it is called) is because they like domination and tomboy girls represent female domination.
