Dennis Nilsen was a serial killer from Scotland, who was of Scottish and Norwegian descent. His mother was Scottish, and his father was a Norwegian soldier who had travelled to Scotland in 1940 as part of the Free Norwegian Forces.

Dennis moved to London in England where he worked as a policeman before becoming an executive officer at a Job Centre.

Nilsen was a homosexual and a serial killer and a necrophiliac who killed 15 men and had sex with the dead mens bodies that he'd murdered, which he kept in his wardrobe and under the floorboards of his north London homes in Melrose Avenue and Cranley Gardens.

He'd prowl at night in hunt of young gay men around the bars of Soho in Central London, would befriend them, and would then take them back to his home in Muswell Hill... and would then strangle them when they were intoxicated.

He'd take the dead bodies out from his cupboards and under his floorboards, would put the bodies in his bath and would sit in the bath with them, sleep with dead bodies in his bed and would have sex with them, would sit the dead bodies in his armchair and would have 'conversations' with the people he'd murdered, etc, before dismembering and dissecting the bodies into small pieces in food blenders in his kitchen, boiled their body parts in pans on his stove, and would flush body parts down the toilet, and subsequently blocked the drains outside his home.

It's also suspected that he was a cannibal too.

When neighbours complained about the blocked drains and foul and disgusting odours emanating from the drains, workmen and engineeers inspected the cause of the drain blockage.. and much to their horror, discovered a human hand and large chunks of flesh and bones and human hair clogging the drains... so detectives were called in to investigate further.

Detectives entered his home and smelt a vile odour and asked to look in the bedroom. They recoiled when they found black bin bags with decomposing bodies and lots of maggots and flies in his wardrobe.

He was instantly arrested on suspicion of killing a person and taken to the police staton.

One of the detectives asked Nilsen in the car as they were driving him to the police station for an interview that it looked like more than one body in the black bags... and asked if there was more than one... perhaps two bodies in his cupboard...?

Dennis flatly and brazenly replied: 'No - you'll actually find 15 bodies in my home!'

The dectectives were so stunned, they said they nearly crashed the car when he told them that.

He was convicted of killing at least twelve young men between 1978 and 1983 in London, England and was sentenced to life imprisonment on 4th November 1983, with a recommendation that he serve a minimum of 25 years.

In his later years he was incarcerated at Full Sutton maximum security prison.

He died in May 2018 (aged 72) at Her Majesty's Prison, Full Sutton, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
