Some 500,000 Ukrainians could quit Poland's labor market in favor of Germany

About 2 million Ukrainians now live in Poland. Most of them are labor migrants. Zaxid.net The Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers of Poland believes that the possible outflow of Ukrainian workers to Germany could inflict serious damage to the Polish economy. On December 9, the German government approved a bill that provides for the abolition from 2020 of priority conditions in employment of own citizens and those of other EU countries, the Novoye Vremya weekly wrote, citing Die Welt. If approved by the Bundestag, the bill will allow qualified workers from Ukraine to find legal jobs in Germany. About 2 million Ukrainians now live in Poland. Most of them are labor migrants. Taking cheap blue-collar workers will likely slow down the increase in wages and the automation/performance improvement processes that are REALLY necessary to fill the gaps.

It seems that politicians are as shortsighted as anywhere else. When it comes to some real issues to deal with, they always use ad hoc means without thinking beyond their cadence.


Also, most of imported workers are males and those who are single will contribute to the troublesome surplus of men that is going to grow and grow. It won't end well.

Germans would probably want neither. However, the reality is Germany has a very low birthrate and they'll need migrants to keep the industries running. So they may as well choose these guys if they want to keep MENAs away. It's either one or the other. But still, 500k seems like a whole lot. Doesn't sound realistic that many would be allowed in.
