Which country does Mexico feel closer to culturally: Spain or the United States?

I was always curious about this.

Or better yet: Which country does Mexico have a stronger affinity for?

I don't know...depends...a 100% Amerindian Mexican who has an amerindian culture for me is like an alien in terms of cultural connection despite we speak the same language.

Mexico and Spain have very different cultures and even sometimes I think they could even feel closer to United States.

We do feel closer to that United states our media celebrities etc most Mexicans can't point out on that map where Spain is we simply don't care about Spain we are different from that rest of Latin Americans..

Well, I think that it should be the US since there are 12 million Mexicans in the US. It’s the country where Mexicans migrate for better opportunities, their main economic partner and the country that acts as their role model.

Mexico’s economy is very dependent on the US, and lots of American companies relocate to Mexico for cheap labor.

This doesn’t mean Mexico is culturally like the US, they have a mindset of their own, and a culture that is a mix of Amerindian and Spanish.

The modern Spaniard culture differs a lot from the colonial Hispanic culture IMO. Now Spain has more of a continental European mindset, while Mexico inherited a colonial and more unequal caste-like system of hirarchies that is seen in the cureent Mexican society, and that differs a lot with Spain and even the US.
